Ear correction in Bamberg

Protuberant ears can be an annoying aesthetic deformity. We can help. Since the beginning of plastic surgery, a multitude of surgical methods have been developed to correct unattractive prominent ears.

We favor a modern, very effective, and mild otoplasty procedure, in which a thin incision is made behind the protuberant ear. The prominent part of the ear is folded with buried sutures so that the ears lie harmoniously along the head. In very pronounced cases, we also remove a small strip of cartilage.

For children, we prefer to perform ear corrections under a mild anesthesia. For adults, ears can be corrected in an outpatient procedure with local anesthetic.

Following the operation, we administer a cotton-padded bandage that should not be removed for several days. The suture behind the ear is removed after about ten days.  Thereafter, a well-fitting headband should be worn at night for two weeks.
