Treatment of couperose (dilated veins in the face) with KTP laser

The KTP laser operates at a wavelength of 532nm (green light). The laser beam is absorbed by the vein without damaging the upper skin layers and the resulting heat destroys the vessel wall.

This allows the following vascular changes to be removed very effectively, mildly and almost painlessly:

- dilated capillaries in the face (couperose)
- small port-wine stains (naevus flammeus)
- small hemangioma

During the couperose treatment, the visibly dilated veins are individually removed with a thin laser beam that is manipulated like a pencil. The effect is visible immediately.

The KTP laser treatment for couperose normally involves no formation of scab on the face and no recovery time. The KTP laser targets veins very precisely, so no scars are to be expected.

Couperose is often a symptom of rosacea, which is why we recommend that patients consult a dermatologist to determine the appropriate medication to be taken in concert with our laser treatment.
